Raised in a blue-collar household in British Columbia, Stagger has followed his own path—for better or worse—since the age of 18, with every step providing musical inspiration. Like his American counterpart Ryan Adams, Stagger’s life has played out on his records, from a wild, reckless youth, to finding his unique voice. Trusting his instincts has been the key, especially as life has continually grown more complicated.
Those instincts have also led him to join the CKUA family, following in the footsteps of his grandfather who was in radio for over 50 years.
Since first making his mark on the Canadian independent music scene at the turn of this century, Leeroy Stagger has toured the world, both on his own and with the likes of Steve Earle, Pixies, Modest Mouse and Evan Dando. Among his achievements are winning 102.7 The Peak’s highly competitive Performance Project in 2015, working with legendary U.S. industry mogul Danny Goldberg, and having his songs appear in such television shows as Grey’s Anatomy and Sons Of Anarchy.
Having just released his 11th studio album and now signed with True North Records, Stagger’s career is heating up. “I Want It All,” an upbeat single from his April 7 release Love Versus, hit No. 2 on Spotify’s Canada Viral 50 chart, and cracked the Top 10 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart.
